Who we are
Data Moat Ltd (“Data Moat”, “we”, “us”). We’re building a new way for people to share purchase-intent data and get rewarded fairly.
Contact: info@datamoat.co.uk

What data we collect

When you join the waitlist

Email address

Your consent preferences (e.g. product updates, optional research/testing invites)

When you use our website

Basic technical data provided by your browser or device (e.g. IP address, device type, pages viewed, timestamps)

Cookies and similar technologies used only with your consent for measurement and advertising (see “Cookies & tracking”)

We do not collect other personal data at this early stage unless you choose to provide it (e.g. via a form).

How we use your data

Product updates: to email you about Data Moat news and progress (with your consent)

Early testing & research: to invite you to optional surveys or tests (if you opted in)

Measurement & improvement: to understand how our site and campaigns perform

Security & maintenance: to protect our services and diagnose issues

You’re always in control and can opt out at any time.

Legal bases for processing

Consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)): marketing emails; analytics/advertising cookies (including Google Ads conversion tracking)

Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): security, fraud prevention, basic site operations and performance

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time via the unsubscribe link or your cookie settings.

Cookies & tracking

We use a consent banner to let you accept or reject non-essential cookies.

Essential cookies: needed for the site to work (always on)

Analytics/Advertising cookies: used only if you opt in. These help us measure what’s working and improve relevance.

You can change your preferences at any time via Privacy/Cookie Settings on our site.

Google Ads conversion tracking

If you consent to Advertising/Marketing cookies, we load the Google Ads tag on our pages and a conversion “event” on our confirmation/thank-you pages. This allows us to measure when actions (e.g. sign-ups) happen after an ad click. Google may set cookies and process limited data (e.g. IP address, device, pages visited, event timestamps) to provide aggregated reporting and prevent fraud/abuse.

Controller: Data Moat Ltd; Processor/Independent recipient: Google Ireland Limited (and Google LLC, USA, where applicable)

Purpose: measure ad effectiveness and improve the relevance of ads

Data: cookie IDs and usage data tied to your browser/device (not used by us to identify you personally)

Legal basis: Consent (you can decline and still use our site)

Who we share data with

We don’t sell your personal data. We use trusted service providers (“processors”), for example:

Website hosting and builder

Email service provider (to send updates you opted into)

Analytics/advertising providers (e.g. Google) only if you consent to those cookies

These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only for our instructions.

International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK/EU (e.g. the United States). Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary measures, as applicable.

How long we keep your data

Waitlist & comms: until launch or until you unsubscribe/withdraw consent (whichever is sooner), then we remove you from active mailing lists.

Cookie/measurement data: retained according to each provider’s default or the shortest period needed for measurement and security.

We review retention periodically and delete or anonymise data when it’s no longer needed.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

You can:

  • Access a copy of your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Withdraw consent (emails & cookies) at any time
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Port data (where applicable)

To exercise your rights, email info@datamoat.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you’re unhappy with how we handle your data.

Our services are not intended for children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect their data.
